About Us…
Paula Jean Kakuschke Goldberg
In 1995, my adventurous life really began during a trip to Amsterdam, when I tried the philosopher's stone mushroom, the sclerotia of Psilocybe tampanensis, a rare psychedelic fungus known for its introspective and psychoactive effects for the first time.
It changed the trajectory of my life…
In 1995, I studied at CU Denver, double majoring in Anthropology and Communications, and had the privilege of briefly studying under visiting professor Dr. Schultes (Harvard), the Father of Ethnobotany. I graduated with a BA in Communications Media Studies and a BS in Anthropology with an emphasis on Ethnobotany.
Moving to Los Angeles, I joined the entertainment industry, starting as a Research Analyst at the www.motionpictures.org MPA under the legendary Jack Valenti, compiling financial and statistical data for all of the major studios.
Later, I worked at United Talent Agency during the early days of Reality Television while picking up small modeling gigs on the side.
After leaving UTA, I became a Database Administrator at NATPE (National Association Of Television Producers and Executives).
Feeling the industry was soulless and draining, defeated I walked into my favorite marijuana dispensary and became Manager of Toluca Lake Collective (TLC).
I went on to start Exotic Florals & Gifts, specializing in exotic botany and high-end merchandise, and began authenticating luxury handbags.
With my creative juices flowing, I also accepted a position as a Visual Merchandiser working with some of the biggest retail suppliers. Sour Patch Kids anyone?
2018, Worked with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti in the RECYCLA initiative.
The Day My Life Changed Forever…
July of 2019, A major car accident shifted my perspective on life, leading to three and a half years (OMG!) in hospitals undergoing surgeries, relearning to walk, and dealing with mental health struggles. I made a promise to myself that if I lived, I would follow my bliss and do what made me happy.
Mushrooms and marijuana were the key. Both had changed my life in the past, now they would become part of my future.
After 25 years in LA, I returned to Colorado to be near family and took an accounting role at Verde Natural/Dablogic, a marijuana company, working alongside a hash-making visionary, sparking my love for premium cold-pressed rosin and dabbing.
2023, Met Dane, an amazing mushroom cultivator, through a dating app (not a love connection), and our shared passion for mushrooms turned into a business partnership, supplying friends, family, and coworkers with his wonderfully diversity of strains.
In 2025, After yet another surgery, I got the idea to combine my love of mushrooms into a company with Dane, called “Dane’s Dix”. The name was a nod to our fabulous grower Dane, but also a tribute to my late father, Dick Kakuschke.
Dane
While there was originally a “Dane” at Dane’s Dix, over time it has evolved into a collective of cultivators and mycologists.
